Redstone Boutique Hotel
Redstone is a recently opened boutique hotel in Old Town Riga, offering 11 individually designed rooms overlooking the Old Town. Each of the building’s six floors has been created in different tonality to achieve a monochrome palette and the play of light and shadow. Restaurant St. Petrus, located on the first two floors of the building, is the starting point of the color palette, adding various pastel nuances to each of the following levels. The monochromatic color scheme creates a feeling of integrity – there is no text, nor texture. The planes and design objects merge into one, the boundaries between form and materiality disappear. The tonal gradation in the furniture adds intensity to the space. Everything else becomes a clean and laconic background that doesn’t distract from the most important part – the human being. Because here – the human being, the individual is what’s most important. The building has received The Annual Latvian Architecture Award and is one of few new buildings that complement the Historic center of Riga. Old Town Riga is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
